How to Use Safely

Trim only a small amount at a time and do not cut into the quick, which contains nerves and blood vessels. Use the guide as an aid, not as a substitute for checking the nail before every cut. If the nails are dark, the animal is anxious or you cannot identify a safe cutting point, ask a groomer or veterinarian to demonstrate the correct technique. Stop if the animal struggles or a nail bleeds.
